SCCS Students benefit from a 2-year computer science focus grant

Santa Cruz City Schools, the Santa Cruz Education Foundation and ETR (Education, Training and Research) have been awarded a 2-year, $300,000 National Science Foundation grant to address disparities, bolster computer science education and expand computer science pathways for K-8 students in Santa Cruz public schools.

Update on SCCS Bonds

On February 23, 2017, Santa Cruz City Schools successfully sold the first installment of Measure A and Measure B bonds. The bond measures were approved by voters in November 2016 to fund improvements to schools throughout the district.

CAHSEE Suspension & Retroactive Issuance of Diplomas

Senate Bill (SB) 172 (Liu), signed by Governor Brown on October 7, 2015, suspended the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The law also requires districts to grant a diploma of graduation to any student who completed grade twelve from 2004 to 2015 school years, and has met all applicable graduation requirements other than passing the CAHSEE high school exit examination. This law took effect on January 1, 2016; with this in mind, Santa Cruz City Schools is now permitted to issue diplomas to eligible students.
