Over the last several years, our elementary schools have been declining in enrollment. In June, stakeholders from all of our elementary schools and the Branciforte Small Schools campus met in order to make recommendations about the use of facilities and resources given our changing student population.

The task force agreed to forward three potential solutions for consideration: (1) Re-drawing attendance boundaries; (2) Moving AFE to Gault; and (3) Reducing facilities projects to mirror enrollment projections. It was agreed that these be considered alone or in tandem, as the group felt that each would be a difficult “stand alone” solution. It was also agreed that there would be next steps associated with each solution proposed, establishing a redistricting committee, an AFE/Gault transition committee, and/or a Facilities Master Plan revision committee.

The committees will be formed to follow up on the task force's initial recommendations and will begin in September: a Redistricting Committee and an AFE/Gault Shared Campus Committee. A Facilities Master Plan Revision Committee will be formed and convene after the work of the first two committees in the fall. Principals will be reaching out to recruit membership for the new committees.
