Branciforte Middle was built in 1950 & serves 470 students.

In 2016, after almost 20 years without a Bond investment, the school needed help. Teachers, students, staff, parents & neighbors prioritized the need for a refurbished multi-purpose room, new roofs, a new music space, and sweeping modernizations across campus. We're well into the work of rejuvenating B40 & it's all thanks to you.

The Work.

Built: A new Welcoming Entry into school!

It's important that the outside of a school welcomes students and matches the experience of being in the classroom.

Measure A allowed us to give B40 students the welcome they deserve with a new face!

Rebuilt: A Space for Performance & Gathering

Branciforte's new Multi-Purpose Room provides a home for music, connection and more! Being able to host community and events adds an indispensable dimension to a school.

Thanks to Measure A, B40 can open its doors to more community building and celebrations.

Built: A new Parking area

Part of being a good neighbor is being as self-contained as we can be. The addition of new off-site parking for staff and visitors has helped B40 and its neighborhood so much.

The ease of access and the accommodation of community has helped make B40 more welcoming and more responsible.

Built: A place for Music

Measure A, and our community, made it possible to build a dedicated home for our music program at Branciforte.

It is so wonderful to have a space for our band program at B40, not only to give our young musicians a place to practice - but to give our other students a buffer from the sounds of practicing!

Built: New Solar Arrays & Shaded Areas

As part of our district-wide Sustainability Strategy, Measure A has allowed us to add solar arrays at Branciforte â€‹to make the school more self-sustaining in its energy needs.

This has also created a new shaded area on campus for students to be comfortable outside.

Branciforte Bond Site Committee

Bond work is informed by the local input of the Bond Site Committee, which is usually made up of families and staff. The Bond Site Committee meets regularly with the Bond Core Team who plans and undertakes work with the Architect & Contractor, and plans for work and strategic direction is presented to the Santa Cruz City Schools Board of Trustees for approval. The Bond Site Committee is a vital part of the process, discussing and reporting the needs and want of the school community.
