Branciforte Small Schools has an interesting history. With the main building built in 1932 the former elementary-only campus now serves 400 students ranging from K to 12 in multiple schools.
In 2016, after almost 20 years without a Bond investment, the school needed help. Teachers, students, staff, parents & neighbors prioritized the need for a a new wing of classrooms, a new accessible playground, better ADA Access, a new shaded lunch area and site-wide modernizations. We're well into the work of rejuvenating Branciforte Smalls & it's all thanks to you.
The Work.
Built: A new Wing of Classrooms
B40 Small Schools runs many different education models and needed more space. We built a new complex of modern spaces to provide the best environment for our students.

These multi-use spaces connect kids and community at our unique campus.
Reimagined: Our new Inclusive, ADA-Accessible Playground
To continue making Small Schools an inviting place for all, we built a modern, inclusive as well as accessible playground that revels in versatility and inclusion. Our beautiful design invites universal play.

This new playground at the heart of campus makes a huge difference for students in Monarch and Alternative Family Education!
Home: An intimate Campus for Alternative Education

The Alternative Family Education campus is the perfect place for small groups to collaborate and connect.

The support of our community has done so much to create a variety of options for our families and have such diverse pathways to success.

Branciforte Bond Site Committee
Bond work is informed by the local input of the Bond Site Committee, which is usually made up of families and staff. The Bond Site Committee meets regularly with the Bond Core Team who plans and undertakes work with the Architect & Contractor, and plans for work and strategic direction is presented to the Santa Cruz City Schools Board of Trustees for approval. The Bond Site Committee is a vital part of the process, discussing and reporting the needs and want of the school community.
