A district, like a school,
is built on Community.
A Public School is an expression of the community it serves. There are so many ways a community both supports and guides its schools: through their decision to provide resources like Bonds or Parcel Taxes, and through the various committees that provide public oversight, leadership and transparency.
We are so grateful for our incredible Community Support:
Facilities Bonds
The only way any school is able to repair, replace or build on campus is through Bonds. This is incredibly significant because with hundreds of people using these facilities every day, they age much faster than most places.
After almost 20 years without investment for repair, the greater Santa Cruz community passed a series of Bonds (A&B in 2016 and K&L in 2022), leading to a desperately-needed rejuvenation of our learning spaces.

Parcel Taxes
Believe it or not, there are a lot of important parts of the school experience that are not funded in our base budget—things like mental health counseling, athletics, music, career education, libraries and more!

It makes such a difference to our students that our community passed Parcel Taxes T&U with such overwhelming support in 2020. These resources provide so many vital components of our students' education and experience at school.

District Advisory Committee
Our District Advisory Committee is an indispensable channel from the community ​directly into our district: allowing families and neighbors to discuss strategy with staff and help define priorities.

Budget Advisory Committee
As a public institution, we believe it is fundamentally important to provide transparency into our budget, our resources and our decisions. Having public oversight helps us, helps build trust, and helps the community understand the district as well. Learn More here.
