Welcome to Santa Cruz City Schools! Admission is open to any and all families in our community, free of charge.
Transitional Kindergarten is open to kids turning 5 Sept. 2nd 2024 - June 2nd 2025. Kindergarten is open to kids turning five by Sept. 1st 2024. Review California Kinder Eligibility Here.
Families who are New to Santa Cruz City Schools:
If you did not have a student enrolled in any SCCS school in the last academic year, please follow the following steps for registration:
Elementary School New Student Enrollment:
STEP 1: Determine your neighborhood school by clicking here.
STEP 2: Bring the following documents to your neighborhood school's office:

Copy of Immunization Records (required immunizations listed here)

Verification of Age (birth record, birth certificate, baptism certificate, passport or affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian of the minor)

Proof of Residence (PG&E or water bill)
STEP 3: The school will verify the required documents and assist with the registration process.
Middle & High School New Student Enrollment:
STEP 1: Determine your School of Residence. Verify your school of attendance at My School Locator. If your home address is not listed, please click here for school transfer information.
STEP 2: Online Student Registration. All students new to our district must register online.

Complete the online registration process in its entirety.
STEP 3: Submit Required Documents. The online registration will not be completed until all the required documents are submitted.

Documents can be uploaded to the online registration or by dropping them off at your School of Residence.
STEP 4: Create your Parent Portal
After the application has been approved, you will receive an email with a link to create your parent portal. All parents/guardians must create a parent portal account through Infinite Campus.
Current Families in Santa Cruz City Schools:
Returning Students:
If you have a CURRENT student attending a school in our district and need to register for the following school year, please follow the instructions below.
New Students of current families:
You will have the opportunity to add a student at the end of your existing student registration if you are an existing family who also has a new student coming into the district.
STEP 1: Log into your Parent Portal on Infinite Campus

STEP 2: Once you log in click on “MORE”
STEP 3: Click on “Online Registration”
STEP 4: Click on 2024-2025 Existing Student Registration. You will have the opportunity to add a student at the end of your existing student registration if you also have a new student coming into the district. If you do not get the option of enrolling as an existing student, it may be because you need an Interdistrict Transfer approval. If you need assistance, you can contact your student/s school office. Do NOT click on New Student Registration.
STEP 5: Click on your student’s name then Begin Registration. You MUST include three emergency contacts besides the parents/guardians.
Families outside Santa Cruz City Schools who want to transfer into our District:
For students living outside Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to attend a school within Santa Cruz City Schools, this is often possible but the process must start at your school district of residence.
Contact your local school district and request to initiate an Interdistrict Transfer. They will be able to assist you and will contact our district to propose the transfer.
District Families wishing to attend a school other than their school of residence within Santa Cruz City Schools:
We do offer the opportunity for students to attend a school outside of their neighborhood's attendance boundary.
For Intradistrict in the 2024-25 school year, the priority filing period for Middle and High Schools is January 13 through February 8. Applications will be available January 13th. Please fill out the application and return it to the District Office of Santa Cruz City Schools, 133 Mission St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or via email to mluna@sccs.net by February 8th (secondary).
In the Elementary District, applications will be accepted from February 18th to March 8th. Please fill out the application and return it to your school of residence.
Intradistrict Transfers
Students living within Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to apply for a transfer to a school within our district other than the school of their residence, must apply for an Intradistrict Transfer. Intradistrict Transfers will be granted if space within the school requested exists for a new student. Please use the link below to complete the application:
