Mission Hill Middle was built in 1931 & serves 500 students.

In 2016, after almost 20 years without a Bond investment, the school needed help. Teachers, students, staff, parents & neighbors prioritized the need for the replacement of the water-conscious play field, new historic roofing, a new & welcoming school entrance area, general modernizations and  a new building for science  instructional space. We're well into the work of rejuvenating Mission Hill & it's all thanks to you.

The Work.

Rebuilt: A new Welcoming Entry into school!

It's important that the outside of a school welcomes students and matches the character of the place and the experience of being in the classroom.

Measure A allowed us to give Mission Hill the welcoming entry our students deserve.

Replaced: A New Play Field

To give our students a beautiful & functional playing field and to have a sustainable & environmentally friendly place to play, we refurbished the artificial turf field and running track in the heart of campus.

This field features underground rain water storage to prevent flooding of Mission Street and to collect water to bring back into the city water system!

Remodeled: our Multi-Purpose Auditorium

From student performances to community events, from peer tutoring to music and dance, the auditorium is a central place for connection on campus.

Thanks to you and Measure A, Mission Hill has a practical and beautiful home for gathering special events.

Committee

Mission Hill Bond Site Committee

Bond work is informed by the local input of the Bond Site Committee, which is usually made up of families and staff. The Bond Site Committee meets regularly with the Bond Core Team who plans and undertakes work with the Architect & Contractor, and plans for work and strategic direction is presented to the Santa Cruz City Schools Board of Trustees for approval. The Bond Site Committee is a vital part of the process, discussing and reporting the needs and want of the school community.
