Westlake was built in 1960 & serves 450 students.

In 2016, after almost 20 years without a Bond investment, the school needed help. Teachers, students, staff, parents & neighbors prioritized the need for a new wing of classrooms to replace aging portables, new roofing, parking & drop-off improvements, plumbing infrastructure replacement & improved campus security. We're well into the work of rejuvenating Westlake and it's all thanks to you.

The Work.

Replaced: Campus Roofing

Our classrooms were in pressing need of new Roofs across campus. Thanks to Measure B, we were able to put new roofs over the heads of our students and teachers.

New roofing is the first phase of modernization on campus, and makes a huge impact to both comfort and upkeep on campus.

Installed: Lift Accessibility System

Thanks to the support of the community, Westlake has had new lifts installed to provide full access to all on our multi-level campus.

This is an important step to bringing equality to campus, and to expanding access for all students, staff and family at Westlake.

Replaced: Infrastructure

Measure B has allowed the district to replace aging electric and plumbing infrastructure on the Westlake Campus, which is a vital step in site-wide improvements.

Before new buildings, modern HVAC or other projects can be possible on campus, the decades-old infrastructure was in desperate need of replacement.

Now, even more is possible, thanks to you!

Committee

Westlake Bond Site Committee

Bond work is informed by the local input of the Bond Site Committee, which is usually made up of families and staff. The Bond Site Committee meets regularly with the Bond Core Team who plans and undertakes work with the Architect & Contractor, and plans for work and strategic direction is presented to the Santa Cruz City Schools Board of Trustees for approval. The Bond Site Committee is a vital part of the process, discussing and reporting the needs and want of the school community.
